Pregnancy Massage Basics

All massage therapists, at one time or another, will need to give massage to a pregnant woman, and therefore must be able to adapt their massage techniques to the unique needs of their pregnant clients, and must have a good understanding of contraindications and safety.

In this seminar, students will learn the basics of massaging pregnant clients from Mariellen Boss, who has practiced massage for many years. In addition to teaching the basic requirements and special concerns and needs of pregnant clients, Mariellen will be able to answer students' questions and provide information for sources of equipment and supplies.

Mariellen Boss has been in the massage profession for 18 years, and is a co-owner of "Massage Rx," a day spa in Rancho Mirage, California. Over the span of her career she has worked with many clients with special needs, including pregnant clients, those with serious illnesses and disabilities, elderly and medically frail clients. She teaches a variety of spa techniques and pregnancy massage and has taught many of the massage therapists in Palm Springs area resorts and spas.
